#049 Venomoth: The Poison Moth Pokemon
The dust-like scales covering its wings are color coded to indicate the kinds of poison it has. Venomoth is nocturnal—it is a Pokémon that only becomes active at night. Its favorite prey are small insects that gather around streetlights, attracted by the light in the darkness. |
Venomoth is one of these Pokemon that needs a second look for you to realize how awesome it is. When I was a child, Butterfree got all the love while Venomoth was always the "secondary" butterfly Pokemon I wasn't really interested in because it seemed not cute enough and boring to me. Granted, I still love Butterfree, but now I love Venomoth even more thanks to the fact that I realized how cute his big round eyes and overall face is. I also have a soft spot for moths. Even though I am also a bit afraid of them because I always fear to crush them, they are so fluffy and cute!
Once again, Venomoth is one of the rather underappreciated mons, so I try to collect what I can get! |
Venomoth Custom Pokedoll
This little plush is incredibly cute! *w* I can't even! He was made by ThunderPlush on etsy! I gave the artist my own Pokedoll design of Venomoth and she did a wonderful job! I love his cute little fangs and the round eyes. He is made of minky fabric and super soft! I wish Venomoth also had an official Pokedoll! He also makes a great duo with my Butterfree Pokedoll as you can see in one of the pictures below!

Venomoth/Venonat Zukan Figure
Release: Japan, 2005
Found: pkmncollectors, 2015 This is my favorite Venomoth figure. It's just perfect, made out of really sturdy plastic, and I love its flying pose and the fact that the horns are a little bent to make it look more dynamic. The color scheme is beautiful as well. This is a must-have in every Venomoth or Venonat collection. |
Venomoth Tomy Figure
Release: Japan, Takara Tomy, 1998
Found: pkmncollectors, 2015 This figure is super detailed and beautiful. I love the airbrush technique and the way the purple on the wings blends into white. The wings are very bendable. This figure is pretty uncommon, so I was happy to find it relatively early when I started to collect the little moth. Just look at his cute round eyes d'aww! <3 |
Venomoth Kid Figure
Release: Japan, Bandai, 1998
Found: pkmncollectors, 2015 These are among the cutest Venomoths ever! *w* I extremely love their somewhat perplexed looks xD Unlike the Tomy figure, they have slimmer necks and thus look more agile and less crouched up. I also love how their wings are less spread-out and point slightly backwards as this is a nice variation to the same pose syndrome Venomoth merch often seems to suffer from. |
