Raichu is one of my all time favorite Pokemon. I didn't really care for him too much as a child and was more into Pikachu. However, I started to like him during the time I got back into Pokemon and watched an anime episode in which he appeared extremely cute - unlike Lt. Surge's Raichu, in this episode he was a cute little mouse you just wanted to take care of. When I saw Raichu in Pokemon Amie in the X and Y games, I fell for the cute little mouse even more. There is almost no cuter way to depict Raichu than in Pokemon Amie.
So, since Raichu is one of my favorites and has some great merch, I decided to collect him pretty early! (I blame Gin's Raichu collection for mainly inspiring me to do so.) I am nowhere near a completionist as to my Raichu collection, but I love to pick up my most favorite stuff which is the way I go about with all of my side collections. |
Raichu Kuttari Plush
Rlease: Japan, Pokemon Center 2015
Material: Minky Found: pkmncollectors and ebay, 2015 These cuties are among my favorite Raichu plush now, they are just incredibly adorable <3 Their ears have no stuffing inside and thus are super floppy, and so are their cute little tails. The little paw pats and the white belly are esecially cute. |
Raichu Pokemon Center Plush
Release: Japan, Pokemon Center, 2015
Material: Minky Found: pkmncollectors, 2015 I was so happy when I finally held this Raichu in my hands! This is the most accurate Raichu plush there is and dear lord, is it adorable!! I love that for once, they actually made Raichus feet long instead of simplified. It has such a cute face and appearance, I can't even! The cute round belly and the little arms resting on it, everything. As I like mice and mice even more, this Raichu is now one of my all time favorite plush. With him and together with the Kuttari, the Banpresto HQ, and the mirage Raichu, I can hardly decide which one is my favorite, but I would guess it is a tie between this Raichu, the Kuttaris and the Banpresto (the mirage coming as a close second). |
Raichu "Germanchu" Mirage Plush
Release: Somewhere in Europe in the late 90s, play by play
Material: Polyester fuzzy plush fabric Found: German local ebay ads, 2014 This. This plush! This is the German Raichu mirage plush, also notorious as the so-called "Germanchu". Mirage plush are special and very rare plush that were sold on carnivals in the late 90s during the Pokemon craze all over the world and are not made by one of the big companies that normally made or make Pokemon plush. And this Raichu is one of them! It was made by Play by Play though and comes in three sizes: big, medium and small. Mine is a medium sized one. This guy has a story! I actually found him on German ebay local ads. The photo had very bad lighting and the plush looked really weird in it. I just thought to myself: "Wow, this is one strange bootleg plush." Little did I know! When I saw it again a day or so later, I recognized its shape and had a closer look at it. Then I remembered I had seen some kind of similar plush on Gin's collection site a while ago (sunyshore) - I had a look again. And yes. It was it. THIS WAS A MIRAGE GERMANCHU ON GERMAN LOCAL EBAY ADS FOR 2 (!!!) EUROS. Given that on Gin's collection site, the plush looked a lot nicer and cuter, I had to get him. I immediately contacted the seller, and to my surprise, he still had it, and so now, this precious special mouse is mine! And even though I was sceptical in the beginning, I am super happy I got him! The fact that he is special and rare definitely ads to why I love this plush, but it's not just that. This plush is just extremely cute in its very own (partly derpy) way. It has such a perfect cute size (see picture below), and is very chubby and has cute proportions. I especially love his loose tail and floppy feet. Floppy feet are really rare with Raichu plush, and most of the PC or Banpresto ones have these kind of stylized smaller feet. So this is a special and nice feature. I love this plush to death and also love to cuddle with it (he came to me loved and washed anyways). Will never let go of this guy for sure! <3 |
HQ Raichu UFO Plush
Release: Japan, Banpresto, 2014
Material: Minky Found: Yahoo Japan, 2014 This plush is my probably my favorite plush in my Raichu collection, and my cuddle buddy too. I was so happy when this guy was announced. This Raichu has a predecessor, if you will, his fuzzy buddy, also released by Banpresto, but significantly rarer (and more expensive thus). They both look very similar as to their pattern though, so I am super satisfied with this guy. As you can see, I detached his tail, and I like it much better that way. The tail is super floppy and long that way, and I always prefer Raichu with loose tails. This Raichu is just so cute! It looks as if he is holding his belly. <3 He's super soft too, and his smile is so heart-warming, this plush makes me happy whenever I cuddle with it. |
Raichu Pokedoll
Release: Japan, 2012
Material: Minky Found: pkmncollectors, 2015 This Raichu has skyrocketed in price recently, and now sells for almost the same amount as other rare Pokedolls, so I guess you can now consider it "rare" (even though it is not rare at all, but rather really sought-after apparently). I was lucky to have gotten mine for a decent price so early on. At the time I bought it, the price I got it for was already cheap compared to what it usually sold for at the time. I really love this plush, and it's one of my favorites! Wait.. aren't kind of all Raichu plushies some of my favorites? Oh well. xD this Raichu has such a round soft belly and I love the overall round and fat shape. Fat Pokedolls are just the best :D |

Raichu Tomy Figure (new)
Release: Japan, Takara Tomy, 2010
Found: hobbylinkjapan, 2013 This figure is perfection. But what do we expect from Tomy figures? I have to say that I am more a fan of Raichus's chubby version whereas this figure is very slim and has a more defined head. Nevertheless, there is simply no better way one could translate that newer Raichu design into figure form than this. I love how all the tails on the Tomy figures are bendable. |
Raichu Tomy Figures (old)
Release: Japan, Takara Tomy, 1997
Found: pkmncollectors 2013 These are the old Raichu Tomy figures which have like 87583472527 different forms or so. There are ones with white bellies, ones with semi white bellies and with no white bellies at all. As you can see, I have two versions. They are very old. The one with the white belly is kind of dirty and a little scuffed. I enjoy this oldschool design of Raichu very much. It's similar to the older Kid figure, only in a less stylized way, but it still has that basic mouse like appearance in its face. |
